Product Announcement & Review: Mars Attacks Uprising Card Series

Who doesn’t remember the 1996 sci-fi comedy Mars Attacks!? Fans of the film now have a new reason to rejoice; a Mars Attacks Uprising card series is on the way.

The series is fully licensed by Topps and will be produced by SidKick Trading Card Publishing. The pack will include 5 retro style cards featuring new artwork from Ed Repka, Carlos Valenzuela, William Skaar and Paolo Parente. The set will start with 72 base cards with 18 all-new story cards featuring the work of the artists listed above.

SideKick Lab has launched a Kickstarter campaign this morning to help fund this awesome project. Below are some of the perks you will receive for backing.

Review

The folks at SidKick Lab were nice enough to send me a preview pack to share and review with all of you. Although I was given the cards for free, all of the following thoughts and opinions are 100% my honest thoughts.

I will start with the obvious, the wax pack. The colors are vibrant and attention grabbing and go with the Mars Attacks! theme for sure. The artwork on the pack (by Doug P’Gosh) is insanely awesome.

The cards inside are equally as awesome. The artwork is clear and vividly colored; no blurriness like others. They are very reminiscent of the old Fright Flicks cards.

Whether you are looking at these cards to trade or simply collect, they are sturdy enough to withstand quite a bit. The cards are printed on a very high-quality, thick card stock. I recommend checking out these cards for sure.

If you can’t donate, please help spread the word by sharing the campaign. For more information on SideKick Lab and the Mars Attacks Uprising cards, follow @sidekicklab on Instagram, like Mars Attacks Uprising on Facebook and check out the Kickstarter.
