Rock front-man Corey Taylor is no stranger to the weird and horrifying having donned many insidious masks throughout his career with Slipknot. Taylor has been in horror films before; he appeared alongside the legendary Robert Englund in 2014’s Fear Clinic and had a cameo in Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens. This time, he has taken the reins and wrote his own feature length film.
Taylor is also responsible for an 80’s horror retrospective documentary called In Search of Darkness which he spent the entirety of October releasing.
Taylor has enlisted the help of another horror icon to bring his creation to life, Tom Savini and his right-hand man Jason Baker will be providing their expertise in the special effects department. Savini’s name may be familiar to Slipknot fans for more than one reason, he is the creator of the mask that Taylor wore for the We Are Not Your Kind album cycle and tour.
Taylor told Kerrang!:
I wrote a script for a horror movie that I’m really stoked about. And I just broke the skin on book five, so I’m working on that as well. I’ve got a lot of things going on, but I’m also making sure there’s plenty of time for my family, my marriage and home… You never know how much time you’re gonna get there.
He also spoke with Rolling Stone having said:
I’m actually working on a movie right now. I finished a script and I’m aggressively looking for investors and producers. I’ve got all this stuff that I still want to get out of my system.
The film is currently in pre-production and will serve as Taylor’s directorial debut. The name and release date are yet to be announced.
