INVERTEDOFFICIALTEASER1

What is Inverted?

Synopsis:

In a world paralleling the 70’s, a centuries-old cult known as the “Inverts” kidnap four individuals against their will to recruit for the holy war against the second coming of Christ. From a homosexual hippie, drug- addicted prostitute, man in drag, and a pedophile priest; they’re all deemed to be choice victims to invert through various initiations that push past the most brutal of boundaries.

Although this is an indie film, Clay and Orndoff have snagged some pretty recognizable names. Inverted is set to star Destinie Orndoff (Red Eye), Trevor Dow (Rise), Jennifer Nangle (Irrational Fear), Lynn Lowry (The Crazies), David McMahon (Rogue Island), Tommie Vegas (Party Night) and Maria Olsen (Lords of Salem).

Clay and Orndoff had this to say about the film:

“With this film, our main goal isn’t only to deliver an insanely intense, horrific piece of cinema; but to improve from our past work. To the character development, how we present our story, the special effects, everything. We promise to bring you a horror film, made by horror fans. We have learned so much since we shot our first feature and want to make Inverted go above and beyond.”

The chosen platform is Indiegogo. Like all other crowdfunding projects, there are loads of perks; everything from t-shirts, DVDs and Blu-rays to parts in the film. Inverted has a flexible goal of $17,666. With a month left on the campaign, the film is 3% funded with $443 of the total goal.  Backers can be assured that 100% of the funds will go directly to the film as the creators have provided a breakdown of where your donations are going.

‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Fandom Doc ‘FredHeads’ Gets Poster & Teaser

A Nightmare on Elm Street has been terrifying viewers since the debut of the first franchise film in 1984. Since then, the franchise has created a total of seven franchise title films, a Friday the 13th crossover, a 2010 reboot and numerous documentaries. No matter how terrifying the films may be, fans love Freddy, his legendary one-liners and his gruesome kills. A new fandom documentary, FredHeads, has gotten a poster and a teaser and has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help finish production.

FredHeads

The main focus of FredHeads analyzes how being a fan can change your life. Filmmakers have been traveling the country to speak to fellow fans and filmmakers. Director Paige Troxell credits the Nightmare film franchise for saving her life stating:

“In my darkest times I have turned to Elm Street. It is a survival story, it is my best friend, it is my comfort, and it is my home,” gushes Troxell. “I knew that there were others out there who saw this film for more than just the typical slasher. It is my goal to bring to life each and every story; to show the world that this community stands together, that we are a support team for each other.”

The documentary also includes interviews with franchise alumni Lisa Wilcox, Robert Kurtzman, Tuesday Night, Miko Hughes, Ricky Dean Logan and more.

Venn Pictures and Northgate Pictures have started a campaign via Indiegogo to help raise the remaining funds needed to finish production. Perks for contributing to the campaign include pre-order of the limited edition DVD to ensure backers see the documentary first, t-shirts, pins, posters, soundtracks and one-of-a-kind perks from franchise alumni, including prop replicas signed by Freddy himself, Robert Englund.

If you can’t contribute financially, like the FredHead Facebook page and share as much as you can. Every bit helps.

Book Review: Bruce Campbell’s ‘Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor’

The “B Movie” is best known for it’s over the top gore and low budgets, and no actor is more synonymous with this type of film than Bruce Campbell. Campbell got his start as a young teen growing up in Michigan working in local theater and doing “super-8 films” with friend and legendary director, Sam Raimi, but would be crowned the king of B movies with the 1981 release of the cult classic The Evil Dead.

Campbell released his first biography/autobiography, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor in 2001; its followup would come in the form of Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor in August of 2017.

bruce-campbell-hail-to-the-chin

Hail to the Chin chronicles his career post The Evil Dead; focusing on his move out of LA, his 7 season run on Burn Notice and finding jobs after the cancellation of the USA network’s hit series as well as the birth of the Starz hit, Ash vs Evil Dead. One would assume that a cult legend like Bruce Campbell wouldn’t have a problem at all finding a solid gig, but not even the king has it easy.

Hail to the Chin, much like predecessor If Chins Could Kill, gives an eyeopening look into how the film industry really is. If you are thinking about going into film, whether behind or in front of the camera, this is a must read. It’s far from a touchy feely how-to guide but more of a “you’re going to get the crap kicked out of you, but you gotta keep going” pep talk. So many celebrities have released books full of puppies and rainbows and how wonderful Hollywood is, but this is not one of those books. Campbell is as honest as they come with his experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly. If you didn’t appreciate Bruce before, you will after reading this book. Hail to the Chin is the most honest (borderline over sharing) biography you will ever read.

0-20

Hail to the Chin gives a better look at Campbell’s fun-loving personality and sometimes questionable ideas (he built a movie set in his backyard in Oregon…read the book). It only further solidifies him as a fan’s actor and the king of the B Movie. Hail to the king (and the chin) and give Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor a read, you won’t be disappointed.
