Since it’s release in May of 2017, Friday the 13th: The Game has become one of the most popular multiplayer games available, and since it’s original release, the addition of new maps and counselors including both Fox and Shelly from Friday the 13th Part III as well as the addition of Jason from Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter have kept the game interesting. It has been a while since a new addition has been made in the form of a new map or a new Jason, but that changes later today (January 27th).

The new free DLC that will be live will include the imposter Jason as well as a new map, the Pinehurst Youth Development Center from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning.

A few complaints have also arisen as to how kitten-like Jason has become. It has been increasingly easier for counselors to slip away from Jason and for a lack of better terms, troll him, by continuously beating him with various objects and escaping much easier. To remedy this situation and make it once more enjoyable to play as Jason, the following changes will also be included in the newest update:

Each Jason will see a slight speed increase: he won’t be competing in any marathons anytime soon, but he will move a bit faster.
Jason’s reach has been reevaluated and improved: this adjustment will make it harder for counselors to slip through Jason’s grab, but will still maintain fairness for players acting as counselors.
Each Jason will now start with two additional throwing knives: Chad is a dick and likes to dodge in and out of windows, with the addition of more throwing knives, Jason will be able to damage counselors inside of cabins near windows as well as counselors running through the woods.
