All-Star Horror/Sci-Fi Cast Team Up for ‘Terror Tales’

It’s been a while since the release of the Creepshow films, but there is a new horrifying collection of stories headed our way that feature an all-star cast made up of names from Friday the 13th, Maniac Cop 1&2, George Romero’s The Crazies, Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs, Sleepaway Camp, Critters 2 and more. This cast comes together to give us ‘Terror Tales‘ from writer-director Jimmy Lee Combs.

When Michael wakes up he is horrified to find that he is riding shotgun with a psychopath (Christopher Showerman, Supergirl) who reveals to him that his wife and daughter are held captive in the attached cargo trailer. The trailer is rigged to release a deadly toxin when triggered by a switch in the car. Thinking of his family’s safety, he cooperates with everything the psychotic driver asks him to do even if it means breaking the law.

During this bizarre ride, the driver subjects Michael to three horrific tales of the macabre including a demon that takes a mother (Lynn Lowry, Shivers) on a journey of self-discovery and reveals to her the horrifying truth behind her son’s suicide. The next tale transpires in the ’80s where a Detective is hot on the trail of a serial killer known as The Sledgehammer (Jonathan Tiersten, Sleepaway Camp) who is terrorizing a video store owner and his wife. In the final tale, an evil deity (Yan Birch, Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs) is using the human body as a host to possess its victims. When the deity destroys one victim it jumps to another causing an epidemic of possessions being reported.

With a burning desire for the truth behind his abduction and the safety of his family, will Michael have the will to survive the madness? Your sanity will be tried and tested in Terror Tales.

The film also stars Laurene Landon (Maniac Cop), Jennifer Runyon (Ghostbusters), Ari Lehman (Friday the 13th), Ashley Park (Rosewood), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) and Helen Udy (The Dead Zone).

Terror Tales comes to VOD on January 8th from High Octane Pictures.

Movie Review: ‘Ugly Sweater Party’

The holiday season is upon us which means lovable reindeer cartoons and movies about a green guy that hates Christmas, but if you’re more into comedy, gore and a splash of possession with your festivities, ‘Ugly Sweater Party‘ may be for you.

What is ‘Ugly Sweater Party’?

Ugly Sweater Party is about two friends that are invited to an, as the title suggests, ugly sweater party, and things go a bit awry when they discover that the party is being held at an unusual place and one of them may or may not end up with a mildly possessed sweater.

The film was written and directed by Aaron Mento and stars a fantastic group of actors. The cast includes Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs), Lara Jean ( Till Human Voices Wake Us), Hunter Johnson (From Jennifer), Charles Chudabala (Irrational Fear), Brad Potts (Puppet Master X: Axis Rising) and Marv Blauvelt (Snake with a Human Tail).

Review

Ugly Sweater Party is the perfect campy, holiday horror; it is refreshing to see a film that doesn’t go with the obvious ominous presence for this time of the year, Krampus.

If you’re expecting a splatter show and to be completely terrified, this film is not for you. The best way to describe it would be a hint of Sleepaway Camp (minus the girl with a penis),  National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation andJay and Silent Bob meet a possession movie with ugly sweaters, but in a perfectly blended, hilarious way.

I’m going to have to fully recommend Ugly Sweater Party. It’s one of those movies that is so cheesy it’s actually amazing. Think traditional 80s camp comedy, amp that up and throw in lasers and an evil spirit. The film was very well written and acted out perfectly by the stellar cast. Felissa Rose and her horny, underappreciated housewife character stole the show; every time she was on screen, laughs were guaranteed. Believe is or not, the always sweet Sean Whalen makes a pretty great evil spirit, and the rest of the cast did an incredible job portraying the story and lending just the right amount of camp.  I for one would love a sequel next holiday season.
